Within the last couple of decades, more and more vegetarians have changed to a vegan lifestyle for various health, environmental and spiritual reasons. Many people eliminate milk, cheese, dairy products, eggs and their derivatives for moral reasons. Others change their diets after finding out about groudbreaking scientific studies which show a correlation between a high-fat, high-cholesterol diet and the onset of heart disease and other degenerative conditions. Strict vegans also choose not to wear leather clothing, shoes, or fur, and a few even believe that the use of animal-derived ingredients should be totally eliminated from personal care, household and other products.

For information on becominga vegan, contact the American Vegan Society, Vegetarian Resource Group, EarthSave, PETA or Vegan Action. They each can provide educational resources that can help you integrate a cruelty-free vegan lifestyle --- ultimately leading to a more peaceful, harmonious existence for all sentient beings on our planet.
